3 Hot Soups That Are Medicine For The Liver
Our liver, the master metabolizer, filters the entire volume of blood every three minutes. All our organs have their special function, but it is the liver that processes and neutralizes all the chemical substances to which our body is exposed, coming from our food, environment or personal care products. Don't miss the recipes for these 3 hot soups that will give your liver a break.
The key in hot liver detox soups is antioxidants and fiber
In healthy diets or detox diets, when we consume appreciable amounts of vegetables and fruits, our cells receive high concentrations of potassium that eliminate excess water and toxins, creating an alkaline environment.
The toxins are then delivered through the bloodstream to the liver, which neutralizes them for excretion by the kidneys or the colon, via the bile.
During detox diets, many toxins are removed from our cells, so the liver is exposed to increased pressure and needs to be stimulated to cope with the increased production of bile. A healthy production of bile is essential to eliminate toxins, so we must help the liver with key nutrients, such as antioxidants and fiber.
Sources of soluble fiber: oats, lentils, apples, oranges, pears, walnuts, flax seeds, chia seeds, beans, celery, carrots.
Insoluble fiber sources: seeds, nuts, brown rice, zucchini, celery, broccoli, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, green beans, dark leafy vegetables, raisins.
3 hot soups that are medicine for the liver
The following three hot detox soups not only contain potassium to create an alkaline environment and help flush toxins from our cells, but also fiber, soluble to stimulate bile secretion, and insoluble to promote bowel movement and toxin elimination. Soups come in beautiful colors, and in fact, they are so comforting because they are so delicious.
