The artist was previously a part of with PlayStation's Uncharted series which, for some reason, this brought fans to create connection. However, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were actually working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in the beginning, and after the game's official unveiling took place it was met with a slew of Zelda gamers blasted it, claiming they wanted something else. In a new interview with Kiki Talkz on Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky exposed the source of the rumor that caused frustration for the developers.
"Sometimes it's frustrating because it causes false expectations. It was what happened when we announced Tropical Freeze. It was like 'they're working on some kind of Zelda game It's a Zelda game', but then they said nope. And we announced Tropical Freeze and it looks amazing and gorgeous and then people say "oh, this is another Donkey Kong.'
Then you realize that the people are talking about it on Neogaf or something and you're thinking 'oh, and everyone believed that we were playing some sort of Zelda game and it's like no, it's not what you do.' So , it's both humorous at times. it, but sometimes it becomes frustrating when it kind of goes on for a more than it should," said Kozlowsky.
Kozlowsky's statements are an interesting window into how rumors spread and the way that it can negatively impact a game's reception. While Tropical Freeze might not have been the game that gamers were hoping to discover however, it was greeted with a lot of reviewer acclaim after its release.
